Third Way of Jesus

If you watch the videos from Walter Wink, you will hear him speak of the "third way of Jesus". There are three ways to react to violence:
1) with violence
2) with accepting violence and not standing up to it.
30 the third way, the way Jesus did. To stand up to violence not react to it with more violence, not let the violent one make you a mirror of him or herself.

How do you think this translates into everyday life?

nice post!

Yeah the problem with some people that dont loike violence is that they react to it with violence, and those who just sit there and say " yeah violence is wrong" but do nothing to change the out burst of violence, and when asked why they think its wrong some of them don't have any reason other than that Jesus doesn't like it, don't get me wrong thats a great reason but come on there are thousands more than that.

Yes the third way is correct!!!! We need not to fight with more violence, but fight with our words and our morals we need to teach people it is not good to hurt another individual no matter what. Jesus taught to love your enemies and pray for them not hurt them this has become one of the least recognized phrases that Jesus spoke of; this is because of our world is becoming apart of the “convenience store Christians” where we pick the things we want to stand out in our religion instead of taking the whole message, thus manipulating the actual meaning to make ourselves look better, but the main problem is that it is not making us better at being good, it is on the other hand making us better at lying and cheating, so this leads to more violence and irrational thought which will lead to fighting and hurting of our brothers and sisters. I hope that one day we can all live in a Rational world and bring peace to everybody and everything. I saw a sign that said God and Country and I thought to myself "God has no Country, God is in everyone and God loves everyone no matter what; thus God has no Country".

Fred, I really love your reflection "God has no Country". How true that is and how really scary it is to think that someone may feel they have a monopoly on God. I think we really need to focus on making God a home, on welcoming God who comes to us in so many veiled ways and esp in the "least ones"
