mission trips

I am upset because a mission trip should not be about the spreading of Jesus it should be about helping people and if they find out that you are Christain I think that the reward would be greater like aunt debbie said to me about mahatma ghandi "the only reason I did not become Christain is because i never saw a christain live as Jesus did" we can spread peace and justice as Jesus did through our actions, actions do speak louder than words and it is sad that some of the mission trips are only God focused as if you have to start believe in Jesus and in God no you help everyone and anyone no matter what to set a good example. to spread humanity is to spread Jesus's word as Jesus said "that a person who does good deeds and yell out there good deeds they have already recieved their reward but to the person who does good deeds and keeps it to him/herself their reward is in heaven" I am not saying that we should not spread Jesus's message, but we should not make that our prime goal on mission trips our mission should be to help and if a couple notice that we are good people and we are christain and they want to be christain as well my mission in this world is to be a good person that is it.

Third Way of Jesus

If you watch the videos from Walter Wink, you will hear him speak of the "third way of Jesus". There are three ways to react to violence:
1) with violence
2) with accepting violence and not standing up to it.
30 the third way, the way Jesus did. To stand up to violence not react to it with more violence, not let the violent one make you a mirror of him or herself.

How do you think this translates into everyday life?

Non Violence for the Violent

A great commentary on this and a reminder of who we are as Christian people.

Support Of Violence

hello George here I wanted to write an article on the support of violence in our society.

The reason why I am doing this is because I recently attended a concert for In Flames which is a heavy metal band out of the states I do believe they are Swedish, but that's beside the point. In this concert were three bands, 36 crazy fist, Gyro, and In Flames. In the first bands (36 crazy fists) performance the lead singer pointed to the sign informing the audience that there is to be no mosh pitting or crowd surfing, he then told the people that the signs meant nothing and that it was okay to mosh pit, for those how do not know what moshing is, it is simply a violent act in which people who are attending the concert are to beat each up by throwing them, punching and using the elbow as a weapon don't ask how it is fun for I myself have the same question. The lead singer told allt eh people in the concert to make a large gap in the middle of the field and then said "Don't disappoint me turn this place into a bloody battlefield." and thus began the moshing I tried my hardest to get away from the people that were taking part in the act but to no avial I was pushing into the middle of the moshing and hit repeatly in the chest and kidney area and once to the head. I fought only to get away from the people, and finally fought my way out of the mosh pit. I am okay for those who are wondering, only a little pain in the chest I'm a Timmis after all we can take some hits :).

The second band Gyro told the security to "lightin up" on the crowd they are just enjoying the music in thier own way. The people that were with me had in no way a part in the moshing. All of this is going on while the people in the crowd are drinking and the bands themselves are drinking also.

The last band In Flames watched a man crowd surf to the front where he was grabbed but not before being knocked out by the bar that he hit with his head, the lead singer asked the seruity if they were really going to take him away from the concert for it, and began shouting "bring him back" the seruity refused and the concert continued and so did the moshing.

Now I was under the impression that the place clearly stated the fact that if you were found moshing you would be ejected, but it was made clear all they would do is sit there and watch even even as the crowd seperated the security did nothing to stop the "bloody battlefield" from forming. This concert is a great example how someone needed to grab ahold of those lead singers and turnt eh speakers off as soon as they even said the word mosh pit and eject the band its self for supporting such a deadly act. In the USA alone nearly 100 people die in mosh pits and 1000s more are injuried but they wear the scars like medals.

The support of violence in further found in video games movies and shows. However is it fair to blame the people who write the songs or the play the part in a movie or show? or is it the parents at fault? which ever maybe the case we need to find a way to keep such violence out of our childrens minds until they can understand the difference from liking a band and doing what the songs or movies and shows support in doing.

Micheal Moore did a documentary on Violence in our schools mainly shootings at them but he also travelled to our northern niebhors and found nothing different other than that their news doesn't feed them fear 24/7.

I dont know what I'm asking but I guess its for your opinion on the issue of fact like 60,000 murders in USA and only 16 in canada. what is it that makes the USA so dangerous to live in? I guess is my question.

Free Education

As a student in college and a person in a large amount of debt; I still do not understand why our school systems are not free like other places (France, Great Britain, Germany, Spain, Russia, etc...) this is uncomforting because we spend so much to get an education that when we leave school we are in a unprecedented amount of debt. I feel that we should go to free education because my philosophy is that there are two things that create a good society they are a education(of the college level), and Free Health Care if you have these two then you can stop violence that is related to these key services for one free education may end ignorance not completely but it will definitely help also if these things are free people will be happier and have less to worry about and they can work on making a better life for themselves as well as for the rest of us because production will increase very well because people will be more educated. this will never happen as long as people are still greedy and hold their money as if it is life itself.

Stop Bush's Dangerous Changes to the Endangered Species Act

I received this from my friend S Linda

For over three decades the Endangered Species Act (ESA) has
helped protect and defend over a thousand at-risk threatened and
endangered species and their habitats.

But now, the Bush Administration is pushing through 11th-hour
changes to the ESA that will dramatically weaken this important
law by curtailing scientific consultation and systematically
excluding the impacts of global warming from environmental
analyses.

Tell them not to do it.
http://action.wilderness.org/campaign/esa/inui6w41enbdek?

These dangerous changes will have far-reaching consequences for
habitats, species and our communities. The bald eagle, grizzly
bear and gray wolf can be seen in our wildlands today because
Congress passed this seminal piece of legislation.

But as global warming increases, the threat to wild habitat
increases as well. In fact, the International Panel on Climate
Change has estimated that across the planet as many as 30
percent of species alive today will become extinct if global
warming continues unabated. Ignoring the impacts of global
warming will not make them go away.

These dangerous changes could be approved at any moment. Your
immediate response is needed today!
http://action.wilderness.org/campaign/esa/inui6w41enbdek?

Please join with us in telling the Bush Administration to drop
its ill-advised last-minute attempt to eliminate scientific
consultation and consideration of the impacts of global warming
on threatened and endangered species.
