Homelessness is the one of the biggest social injustice of our world. Many homeless die every year and it is a sad fact that there is such a thing as homelessness in this world. Many die from illnesses left untreated because they can't afford health care to pay for the treatments, others die from starvation and malnutrition. They are not enough shelters and yet we tare down abandon buildings that could easily be remade into homeless shelters, but we rather have a wal mart or a food lion in our neighborhood because those things aren't as much of an "eye sore". I leave this open for discussion. How can we create a better and a more productive way of helping the homeless?

there are foods such as fish pills that could feed the world, but nobody produces them as it is not a very productive business. and as you said G people dont like to look at shelters. it is a sad fact that we where all tought by our parents to be selfless, but people still think that it is ok to make fun and even in some cases beat homeless people. Where did this world go wrong?

it went wrong when money became number 1, not many people want to give up that dollar in their pocket to help someone in need. It is unfortunate that money plays such a big role in our world, and that help comes too late for some people to get help. everything from healthcare to college and other schooling, you must have the money to make it in this world if you don't than your just going to have to sit at the bottom.

I have been interested for a few years now in this lifestraw - http://www.vestergaard-frandsen.com/lifestraw.htm

It may not help our homeless but it could help those in countries without clean water. I think it would make wonderful Christmas gifts to give in memory of a loved one or even to have kids wear around their necks - buy one and send one.

Life straw is a great way to help the homeless and the poverty stricken countries the problem is that you can donate 100 straws to a poverty stricken country and they may not see those straws for months or maybe even years because the companies that deliever them arent going to send them 100 at a timme they want to save money which is again number one to most people in this world.
