Free Education
As a student in college and a person in a large amount of debt; I still do not understand why our school systems are not free like other places (France, Great Britain, Germany, Spain, Russia, etc...) this is uncomforting because we spend so much to get an education that when we leave school we are in a unprecedented amount of debt. I feel that we should go to free education because my philosophy is that there are two things that create a good society they are a education(of the college level), and Free Health Care if you have these two then you can stop violence that is related to these key services for one free education may end ignorance not completely but it will definitely help also if these things are free people will be happier and have less to worry about and they can work on making a better life for themselves as well as for the rest of us because production will increase very well because people will be more educated. this will never happen as long as people are still greedy and hold their money as if it is life itself.

this is so true, I being a college student also believe this. How can you tell everyone that wants to be a doctor or what have you, that they have to go into into hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt to learn such crafts.
Hi agree Freddie. The other night on the news I heard how some people are paying more than half their income to go to college. That has to stop! Who knows what cures and solutions lie in a brain that was denied an education. Maybe we wouldn't be in the economic crisis we are in if someone out there had an education but is now working some job that doesn't call them to their full potential.
Yes free education brings more success to any country willing to give anybody the right to an education. It is kind of funny how our military gets free education, but a person who wants to bring good things to this world such as peace and safety has to pay a very large sum of money to go to a university.
I don’t know why this country doesn't think that free education is a good thing?
Education creates success.
Hi Fred,
I wanted to go back to this post from the beginning of the month. I think it would be an outstanding idea if taxes were deducted for those going to school as well as for people who choose to send their children to non public schools.
I think this is a hard concept for us as Americans because our culture is so fiercely independent. I was watching a book discussion on the book, "The Outliers" by Malcolm Gladwell at www.gladwell.com in which the differences in culture are having an impact on the things we do or not do like social health care and I might add education. Our culture is only a detriment to us if we aren't conscious of the impact it has on us.
Just some thoughts...

"Lions for Lambs" has an interesting point in it about two soldiers who basically go to war because it will pay their student loans. I don't think this is unreal and adds to Fred's point.
I have always said to create peace and delete ignorance from society you must have two things they are: free health care to make sure your people are healthy, and free education to create less ignorance in this country rather than watch our intelligence slip and fall away from us as it has started to. It is not hard to see our intelligence falling all you would have to look at is who we idolize; instead of idolizing doctors, scientists, and engineers we idolize people who act like doctors, scientist or engineers how ridiculous is this; how can a person actually be an engineer and have less fame then a person who acted like he/she was an engineer it drives me insane. We need to start influencing science and engineering to kids so that they understand without them there is nothing with science and engineering we can create anything and that is a wonderful gift the gift of scientific thinking. America made a deal with the devil when we started to put more money into our entertainment than our science and Engineering, instead; we throw it to our entertainment companies and they make money for doing absolutely nothing for this world; they act like engineers but they are not, they act like doctors but they are not, and they act like scientists, but they are not; this is America as it stands today. How much longer are we willing to slow down engineering and science because some young man/woman can not get their degree because they do not have enough money for all we know we may have declined the next Albert Einstein, or Nikola Tesla we can not and should not deny anyone from an education the opportunity to better yourself should be there for you no matter what, so I say lets stop the ignorance and create a new America founded on intelligence and understanding.
